Tips

Perhaps not the best chess tip out there; castling is especially important. It brings the King to safety and simultaneously brings a Rook into play. Leaving your King paralyzed from its starting square is an easy way to get checkmated by stronger players.

Your friend probably has good intentions, but this isn't good advice for chess.
Perhaps your friend was scared after getting checkmated this way.

Hi.

I like to imagine my king and queen jump onto there little horse pieces and ride them to there little castles and do unspeakable things that are not what you want me to leave you thinking about, but if you want I can come over for a while
I think the "never move you king" is aimed at total beginners that may begin to wander around the board with thr king in the opening or midgame for no real reason? It is true that the king should be kept safe at the back row or maybe 1 row forward, at least for beginners.

My tip is that when you are playing people with a higher rating than you, you should be concerned about King safety because most will likely they will play offense.
