Just started playing chess a day ago since a part of me always wanted to but didn’t have the motivation to. I can’t checkmate, nor can learn how to see an opportunity to win a game. All my focuses on is eating up the “mobility pieces” so i can have an easier time cornering him and what not but even then it ends up in a draw for some reason. Can someone teach me beginners ways to win a game? Thanks

I was like you 3 months ago. Now, I am near 1060 ELO. The best advice I cam give you is to learn tactic. You must also learn easy checkmates like the " back rank mate " , " king and queen mate " and "king and rook mate ".

Learn to avoid hanging piece. Everytimes when your opponent moves, verify if he can captures your pieces. In addition, learn how to counter the " scholar mate ". Lot of players at your level use this move

Welcome to the chess world, TakkarAli!

Hi! My name is Lauren Goodkind and I’m an award winning chess coach and chess YouTuber based in California:

I have tips and resources to help you improve your chess skills so you can win more games.

-I  offer a  free beginner’s free eBook on my website, www.ChessByLauren.com in case you are interested. The book is about asking questions before each move.

-Learn basic tactics such as the fork, discovered attack, pin, and more.  I offer interactive puzzles on my website: https://www.chessbylauren.com/two-choice-puzzles.php

-I recommend one book for you:  “Queen For A Day: The Girl’s Guide To Chess Mastery.”  This book is available on Amazon.com. This book is endorsed by the 2019 US Women's chess champion.

-If you are serious about chess, I highly recommend you hiring a chess coach to help you.

-Also consider all checks and captures on your side and also your opponent’s side. Always as, “If I move here, where is my opponent going to move?”

I hope that this helps.
