What would be the best openings for me to learn to get better?

For simple yet strong games that don’t take much to learn, you can learn the London System. At low levels, d4 can confuse your opponent and there is even a course on Chess.con that covers this opening

Why does d4 one of the most common openings confused the opponent?

UnsaltedBread
@RSCB2024 it confuses the opponent at low elos because e4 is the most common at the low level, meaning they will learn more common defenses against e4, such as the Sicillian, Ruy Lopez, or Caro-Kann, rather than learn d4 defenses, such as the King’s Indian Defense, Queen’s Indian Defense, or the Dutch. You should balance your knowledge of White and Black openings so you don’t have trouble in the future.

Yeah but ruy lopez has lots of theory

At your current level, openings are irrelevant, and studying them is a loss of precious time.

Practice tactics, tactics... and more tactics.

I agree with Mazetosklo, but would add that you should pay attention to basic opening principles like quick development of pieces and control of the center.

Grantimus-Maximus
