In the general case?
White has two possible plans for continuing the attack after Kg6.
1) Qg4 intending Nxe6+, or
2) h4 intending h5+ (forcing the King to h6)
Sometimes option #1 is better, sometimes (as in THIS case) option #2 is better.

I wouldn’t recommend the Englund Gambit for beginners but it’s a coins flip for the win with me and I have defeated stronger 1700 players with it in all time controls.
Practically, there is no compensation for the lost pawn but in exchange, no theory, no London System and tactical opportunities for both sides.

Do u mean defense as in openings or as in being resourceful under attack?
Show me some examples of what constitutes a poor defense as well as explaining why these are poor defenses.
I named this opening the poor defense, you can play it against 1.e4 and 1.d4
This is my game showcase of this opening. The spirit of this opening is to trade off the queen or the king.
