What is a stalemate?

Stalemate
A stalemate is one of the many ways a game can end. A stalemate is counted as a draw, even if one side has a clear overwhelming advantage on the board. In order for a position to be stalemate, 2 things must be true
1. The player to move must not be in check
2. The player to move does not have any legal moves
While several Low ELO endgame stalemates happen due to a misplaced King+Queen pairing in a failed checkmate, stalemates can happen even if the other side has pieces. However, Stalemate will only apply if moving those pieces is either not possible or not legal
For example
Stalemate usually is an undesirable outcome to the game if you're crushing your opponent. However, the losing player SHOULD do everything they can to get stalemated if they have no way of winning. This can sometimes give rise to an idea known as a "Mad Piece". Typically, a player will continually check the opponent's king with a piece. If the piece is captured, then the game will end in a stalemate. Here's an example of a mad "rook"
