What is white's best move and why? This position was taken from a game that I played today!

This one is a tough one. I am going to say Qd1? That pins the black queen and forces it to take our Queen. Then, our Rook will take back and have their King in check?

Better Rd1 as this still pins the black Queen and forces it to take our rook but now we can take the black Queen with our Queen.

Good call @Seed_knight57. That is a much better move.

I was going to say something else but after review I would agree on Rd1.

Yes, Rd1 is the correct move, everyone!

rd1.

Black interposes with the knight, when the knight is taken with a piece other than whites rook it will give a 'free' move so black can get the queen or king out of the skewer.

Black night is pinned by the bishop and the queen so it can't move. But even if it could move  you'd still be down a piece after cxd5
