what made you play chess
I used to play with my twin brother when I was 8 at our summer lake house. He always beat me, and that made me frustrated. Eventually, he got chess.com, and everyone thought he was the chess twin or something. I locked in, began to play like a 1350-1600 and I haven’t lost a game in 5 years to him. Thats a little tip for getting better at something, take your losing streak and want a change.
I used to play chess for a year or so when I was around 10 to 12 years old. I played in a club once a week, had some lectures and even played in a few tournaments. I don't think I was any good and I didn't particularly like the game, so I quit playing eventually. Then no more chess for many decades. Then one day a few weeks ago I saw a YouTuber playing chess and I thought it was fun. I was bored at that time, so I started playing again, solving puzzles too. This time it was different, I really enjoyed it. It was rewarding to see how fast one can get better with a little bit of learning, even if you are around 50 years old. Strange ways.
I am embarassed but I dont remember. At some point around 13 I just started playing. Now I'm 52 and just cant remember what it was.
I started playing chess when I was 8 or 9, I always lose to my big brother and after like i became 11 we didn't play anymore, but when I was 13 and it was P.E my teacher said that we will be playing chess and scrabble, of course, when she mentioned chess, I suddenly remembered that I can play chess (though I'm dumb at it at that time) and when my twin introduced me to this app, I started practicing on it (since my big brother doesn't want to play with me anymore since he's really busy, I tried to challenge my twin and I got checkmated, so that's when I started to practice on this app cuz of hopes that I can play chess in P.E but..when that day finally came, I got chosen to play in scrabble:') though I still played chess since it gives me stress, excitement (if I got a high rating), and it activates my problem solving skills. (I like solving puzzles or problems, just not math.)
I got into chess because I always wanted to learn how to play, at first I was intimidated because of all the moves for each piece but I'm just getting the hang of it.
