I was bit confused at the time about how to corner his king I have a better idea now but I only had 22 seconds and hadn't practised it much in practise so as to be able to do it under pressure. But that aside i'm wondering what exactly counted there as a repetition?

Keep in mind that draw by repetition is about the board state, not about the exact moves played.  In your game, the repetition was achieved after the following moves:

• 64... Kc4
• 66... Kc4
• 68... Kc4

You will notice that these are the exact same positions.  Therefore, draw by threefold repetition.

ah I see so it's about the state of the board repeating.. well.. without me remembering exact board states I guess the only way I could have prevented something like that  and while not knowing exactly how to mate off the top of my head under perssure, would've been to move my rook from time to time!

Well, you need to learn how to checkmate with a king and the rook. If you don't know this, even if you didn't repeat the position it would be a draw by 50 moves rule eventually. Just moving the king will not do. You have a membership here. My advice is to watch some video on it and exercise it a few times in endgames - checkmates section.
