White’s move 18 allowed black to win material via a combo of deflection, fork, and pin.

Old post but I picked a better opening - Vienna. Pushing d4 d5 (center game) would lead to queen taking back on d4 and when black plays Nc6, white lost a tempo because white has to retreat their queen. Center game is just an inferior opening, 100% playable below 1100 and actually works fairly well, but above that rating, initiatives and tempo become more crucial so Center game would just lose White more games.
