why can't I play blitz help
I can't play blitz anymore either and I got down to 330 there. Until 3 days ago I had no problems staying above 450 but now I lost my touch completely. 700 blitz? That's not really bad.
Blitz is not like regular chess, you need to develop a good intuition for the game so that you can find good or atleast decent moves consistently just by looking at a position and calculating 2-3 moves ahead, this way you are not required to think much + you can prevent number of blunders. How to develop intuition? Well you have to play games and do a lot of puzzles to see those patterns again and again so it will be easier to find them during the game. It's more about pattern recognition than you think..
Btw I looked at couple of recent losses and I think you are panicking even in a good position and blundering (you missed a free queen with your knight) and one thing I've noticed that in blitz matches, beginners try to win on time from the very beginning, you need strong fundamentals to play that fast which is improved by rapid that's why coaches suggest you to play rapid.
Blitz does nothing but stunts your chess growth... If you want to get above 1000 elo don't play a lot of Blitz.. Rapid or slower times controls and a serious analysis of your games IS THE ONLY WAY to improve.
1/3 tactics. 1/3 games played at rapid or slower time controls, with you doing analysis (not with a computer!!! only use that for blunder checks) and a 1/3 studying openings, middle game strategy and endgames...
Anyone who tells you different is spouting BS.
Internet chess is not real chess... You use internet sites like this to improve you overall game so when you play OTB (a real rating system) you will play with skill.
Last... On Chess.com.... Do not buy into the norm that it's easy to get to 2000 elo There are way to many people here with 2000 plus elo. Their ratings are not real, they have been using the printed circuit board to achieve that rating... Often we see "I'm 2200 elo on chess.com and they post a thread saying "I'm struggling to play at the 1600 elo in OTB chess.... " That is an admission they have been cheating doing something... using a tab up opening browser, salting in Engine moves etc etc. NO real 2000 elo player has any issues playing against a 1600. (A real OTB 2000 player is really good at chess)
All that less than honest engine use got them a what?
A respectable rating on Chess.com? But..... In the real world what did it get them?
Squat!
Study with the 1/3 rule, avoid blitz and don't give a F%$K about your rating here.
Use Chess.com and one giant training tool. (which it is very good for!!)
And.... Enjoy every loss.... that is where you get better
300 elo points difference between rapid and blitz iit's not that bad.
the best way to improve your blitz speed is to play bullet without being concerned about the results. Let's say you play 5+0, so try playing 2+1. If you still struggle, try 1+0. Then, just to prove that you can move the pieces, try 30 sec or 1 sec + 1 sec. Lichess anon is your friend ;-)
