Why is this a draw?

The game was aborted in a draw but i fail to see why? (it was black's turn to move).

Maybe there was a server restart

Could have been "timeout vs. insufficient material". If black ran out of time, you don't have enough material on the board to deliver a checkmate (you need at least king and one pawn), so you couldn't have gone on to win.

You can go to info. There it says game drawn by timeout vs insufficient material. AKA you ran out of time and your opponent couldn't beat you, so you didn't lose the game but it was a draw.

This was a week ago so it wasn't easy to find. grin.png

Hmmmm....IDK

Did you contact support?  This looks like a coding error.

nklristic

It is not a coding error. The reason why this is a draw is already mentioned within the game. He run out of time while his opponent had only his king left. That is why this is a draw.

DogLover4Ever

Oh ok. Makes sense.

Ok, then the game replay that was posted is not the actual game replay? In the replay, the last move is queen c1.

Strange, in my log it says I still had 1.7 seconds.

I am pretty sure that it shows the time remaining after the last move you've made. That is why. Go to info tab in the game and you will see the reason for a draw or a win every time.

I've noticed this when someone resigns the game, the clock after the game shows his time after his last move. It doesn't show his actual time when he resigned. It is not easy to notice in quick games, but when you play 1 hour per side, there are times when you wait for a few minutes, and that is how I've noticed it (if I am not mistaken). happy.png
