Why Rapid is More Preferred for Beginners

I agree, I started my chess journey on rapid and I'm still playing rapid to practice nice and quick calculations. Helps with practicing openings too.

I play rapid becuase I get easily distracted (youtube different tab etc) so it means I'm less likely to time out xD
If anyone wants to improve, it is better to play slow time controls. This gives you time to think, remember lessons, and apply what you have learned.
Children sometimes fall into the trap of only playing bullet or blitz. It may be fun to play many games at fast time controls. But the same amount of time spent reading and thinking about chess will actually help a player improve more.

Blitz and Bullet require fast reactions, which can lead to bad habits like making random moves without calculation.

Pure prejudice. I started by playing Bullet and Blitz. In Bullet, since I barely knew anything about chess, I played random moves, but that way, I practiced speed.
Over time, my speed became greater than my playing quality lol, but that's the price I had to pay to learn that way .
As a Chilean master told me, if you're good at 5/0 and specialize in it, then you won't have any trouble in 2-hour games.
Besides, if you play and study Blitz, you learn faster playing slow games, you learn slower hehe.

This whole story is very believable. Oh wait.

What is not believable is coming with the mantra that beginners have to play slow games to improve their chess.
I’ve been hearing that lie for too long, and I’m tired of it because I didn’t leave the amateur world by playing slow games, quite the opposite.
