I only ever play as a guest, and will occasionally get this notification when I press the Rematch button.

How is it that rated players are able to play in Guest mode against unrated players?

Those games are always unrated. I would guess that only players who choose to play unrated games get matched with guests.

I see. Thanks for the reply. Follow-up question: How does a rated player select to play unrated games? My understanding was that, if you have a number rating, the algos by default put you in a game with someone with a corresponding ability who is also rated.
