A challenge!

Yesterday I was designing my Not-So PRO Chess League's team logo/cover, and I started it in a pretty bad way. I had the idea of making a forest, in which pieces/pawns would be special trees, and empty spaces would be a standard simple tree design.

I did spend something like two to three hours making the forest and arranging the trees, 8 folders with 8 layers inside each, but when I finished it, dang! What a total crap! grin.png

It was horrible, I could never, EVER use something like that for a logo or any kind of direct visual message. Take those hours, put 'em on a train and weave goodbye... xD

I went coconuts... Threw the whole thing in my "Scum" folder, something like a recycle bin folder from where I try to find ideas when I really ain't got any.

Not to spoil now, but I got it from a Mikhail Tal game, which is very famous (I think?) and made me become a super Tal fan, due to his astonishing attack outcome.

Here's the challenge!

Can you guess what game it is?

Note: this useless piece of anything was designed upon the game's final position.

(Right-click the image and choose the option to fully see it, in case it appears too small.)

A trophy to the 1st person to guess it right! (be there any...) grin.png

Ooh, interesting.

Obviously the most common green leaved trees are the "empty spaces" that you mentioned. I'm going to take a wild guess and assume the darker "special" trees are black pieces and the colored ones are white pieces? If so, my instinct says I'm looking at the board from white's perspective. (Could be wrong, but it makes sense.)

So there's an obvious knight silhouette, so a black knight on g8. The rest is too obscured though... I might give this a shot if you removed all the trees on the empty spaces. Atm I can barely make out the shapes of anything past the 4th rank that isn't on the edge.

@AsianCalamariSQ Yes! You're looking from white's perspective.

Unfortunately the pattern does not distinguish black from white.

Files 1,3,5,7 are coloured trees, and files 2,4,6,8 are silhouette trees.

There is no distinction between white and black pieces. It gets pretty difficult due to that fact.

Also, there were some special trees that occupied from 1 to 2 squares horizontally, making it even harder. I'll try to post a flat version. This one is too difficult indeed, the last files are of hard comprehension.

those black and green small trees everywhere must be empty squares, that big orange pile of leaves ? a rook, a queen? that pink mushroom is a king, i think.

I'm thinking it's Robert James Fischer vs Mikhail Tal.The seventh match. It was played in 1960 in the Leipzig olympiad. Not sure if that's it tho. Here's the link:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtcPrVL1Da4
