A lil something to spice up your game

My chess nemesis and I came up with a way to add a lil spice to our chess games....bare with me now..... Chess with land mines lol.   Thought i would share this with everybody and hopefully get some feed back and suggestions on it.  So here are the rules and enjoy.

Rules

1. Each player starts off with one land mine each. (We use pennies to represent the land mines)

2. The land mine is placed beneath the queen at the start of the game.  The queens are the carriers. Only the queens can pick up and move mines.

3. The mine only becomes active once the queen sets the mine on a square and moves again. And yes queens can pick up the opposing players mine and move them.

4. Any other piece besides a queen lands on the mine it will detonate killing the piece that landed on it and any piece within  2 squares around the mine. This means your pieces are not immune to the mine you start off with( players have to be careful about piece placement because you never know when one will be set off)

5. Once a mine is set off the mine is removed from the board along with the pieces in the detonated area as explained above.

6.CHECKMATE STILL APPLIES!! Kings are immune to the detonation and can land on the mine however can not move the mine.  Think that is lame well here is the catch....kings can protect the mine from being stepped on by staying on that square for however long it can. (this makes for exciting games when you bring your king out before an end game to protect that mine)

Well those are the rules of landmine chess.  Please post your comments about the game or suggestions on existing rules or new ones you come up with.  Enjoy and good luck

Does your queen set the land mine if it is captured?

This looks quite interesting. Perhaps we can play it at *Results May Vary. Does the queen move the mine every move, or does it pick it up and put it down whenever the player likes?

we havent come up with a set rule for capturing queens with land mines yet but we play a couple of different ways.... one way we play is if the queen is captured while carrying the mine, it goes off capturing the queen and the pieces in the 2 square perimeter around the mine but the piece that captured her is allowed to stay on the board ( a bonus for capturing the queen with the mine) but if the queen is captured after she set the mine then the mine is free for the taking by the oppossing queen and is still in play. However we also play the complete oppossite way and have the mine go off no matter where its at if the queen is captured.... it gets pretty messy sometimes lol but its pretty much up to you which way you wanna play.

Lol yeah it gets really intresting with a mine in play....The players queen can carry the mine for however long they want to or set it on a square when ever they want. The queen can also pick up the oppossing players mine to and move it or hold on to it. I have a question tho...what is Results May Vary? im confused by that. Is that a game site?
