Astrology Chess Readings

I am offering advice based on your last three games plus your natal chart. PM me three games plus your date of birth and I will interpret how you should play chess in order to raise your rating. I am will start with mine as an example.

Iamaquarius, you have won your last three games. With that in mind you must be proud of yourself, for there is no one who plays quite like you. With your sun in aquarius, you tend to go, innately, for the lines that others would not dare to touch, which is only aided by your strong intuition and moon situated squarely in Aries. The games you play too aggressively you lose: this is because your jupiter, the planet of fortune, is in capricorn and you rely oh so heavily on good fortune that you must be wary not to play chess as if it is a game of chance! To improve you must temper your innate aggression and superior intuition with improved evaluation skills and a slight conservation of energy. Always make sure that you are not the one doing all the work and try as best you can to pass off as much creative energy as possible to your opponent. Make him do all the work!

Dear Delagarza1, I had quite a bit of trouble getting your province to work with the chart! Nonetheless, I am a skilled googler, and found another chart without much trouble! I still, however, do not know your rising sign, and so will not be able to fully realize and analyze your issues in chess without this tidbit of information. 

The first thing I noticed is that you play very conservatively and practically in the beginning of the game. This is very interesting, because your mercury is in Capricorn, and therefore you are a conservative thinker by nature! 

However, I can see you have a good tactical eye and it served you well in your first of three games against computer impossible! Perhaps you were a little too true to your sun sign, saggitarius, when you dubiously won a pawn. Even so, you were very lucky that the computer impossible gave you a draw!  Your moon is in taurus, and so your down to earth emotions are probably at odds with your free-spirited and fun loving psyche. However, as I look in your chart and at your games, I see more and more that there is a tension between how conservative you want to be and how aggressive you ought to be. Your intuition is always going to lead you to what makes you more comfortable, so I suggest moving faster! Make the first move your fingers see. Don't dwell too long on any one move or your mind could lead you a stray.

I recommend calculating no more than 3 moves ahead in two lines. At night, you are more likely to blunder due to the gnawing influence of Saturn in Cancer. Cancer in Saturn will make you overly cautious with material and so break the balance that you so deeply crave by adding greed to the equation.

The rising sign is the constellation quadrant positioned directly over your location the moment of birth. You can calculate the rising sign only with the exact time of your birth, because as the earth spins on its axis, this quadrant shifts every two hours.

Weird how many chessplayers buy into pseudoscientific things like astrology. I thought we were supposed to have logical minds. But you did say that it was "just for fun" and you aren't charging for it, so I won't hold it against you.

That said, I used to draw up and interpret astrology charts (mostly natal and relationship) for cash when I was in college, while fully aware that it was all bunk. I had a lot of repeat business and referrals too, with many customers telling me that I gave the most accurate interpretations they've ever had. That's because I used a pre-interview process, so I was using warm reading techniques to select the most relevant statements from the books, and refered to several different books to increase the pool of statements to pull from for each house, aspect, etc.

Since then, I've developed this annoying sense of ethics that doesn't allow me to take money from suckers.

PS: The rising sign is not positioned overhead at the moment of birth. It's on the east horizon... hence the term "rising". The point that's directly overhead isn't going to be in a zodiac sign unless you were born in the tropics. The closest you get to "directly overhead" is the MC or midpoint, which is in the sign that is due south (in the northern hemisphere; due north in the southern) at the time you were born.

Except its not bunk. Haha, I'm a spiritual person, a theosophist so to speak. The smartest men in history were of my ilk. Sir Isaac Newton, Einstein, and David Bohm all were mystics to some extent. I am rather young, and so I haven't gone seeking initiation or anything, but I do want to get more into the spiritual realities as I grow older. A true spiritualist has the ability to commune with the spirit world, that's literally the definition. The history(and future) of mankind is written in the stars. The ancients knew this. I'm no longer embarassed that strangers and friends consider my interests "bunk".

More power to you, then. But empirical analysis of astrology has shown it to have no merit. James Randi once performed an expirment where he handed out 50 identical natal horoscopes, telling everyone that they were specific to the locations of planets at the time of their birth. Nearly all of them rated the horoscopes as very accurate.

This was a variation on the work of Bertram Forer, and the effect bears his name. In his version, he gave students a "personality test," then ignored the results and handed out identical evaluations. Students rated their accuracy at 4.26 out of 5 on average, where 4 meant "good" and 5 meant "excellent." The experiment has been repeated hundreds of times since with similar results. Every "study" that astrologers cite to back their claims of accuracy fails to control for the Forer Effect, and for good reason: they know that if they did, astrology would fare no better than a standard pat interpretation.

I went through a phase of occult interest back in high school. As I matured, I took a cold, hard, honest look at those claims and beliefs, and found them short on any measurable support. I'm not trying to convince you to change your views, but if you take an honest look at the claims made for astrology, I won't have to. The emirical data speaks for itself.

I mean, science claims to have disproven acupuncture and the subtle body but that isn't the case is it? In fact, if you purchase a copy of Qi, a magazine dedicated to chiese medicine and practice, you can find that scientists haven't done at all a good job of disproving any of it. Since science is deductive, science actually can only prove things true. It cannot prove anything false. You would need statistical analysis to do this, and this has been done. Chaos Theory indirectly lends credence to astrology, its how I was convinced that it was a true thing. Anyway I'll leave you to your delusions(not in the pejorative sense but the original sense), which we are both operating under by the way; we are both using faith to affirm our positions.
