Determine Your ELO - What's Your Skill Level?

1750

I timed each one for 5 minutes. I'd like to know the answers.

Puzzles aren'tmy sort of thing. What it really seems to show is that if you took me to a tournament  and put me in front of games in progress, without giving me the scoresheets or moves that had occurred, and gave me 5 minutes each to choose a move in 10 games, I would do it at a strength of 1750.

How that relates to a real game I have no idea.

Some of the more positional ones were pretty open ended.

I was unlucky in that I saw the right answer in 1 but had run out of time so I kept my first answer even though I was sure that I was wrong.

But I had 1 go only and 1750 it got. Like to know if only 1 right answer was allowed because I got some good answers that were different positional ideas than the given answers in the 2145 post that someone made earlier.

I had a different idea for puzzle 9.

1920, if I don't count the last problem. The last one completely stumped me. My first three guesses were all wrong. Thought repositioning the knight was the way to go. I ended up putting in every legal position I could think of after that as I was very curious about this one problem. I tried waiting moves, pawn pushes, and increasingly preposterous sacrifices and nothing worked.

And then I realized....

It was Black to move. Yell

Pouahahahahah, it happens to me in tactics trainer. But sometimes you look at the problem and wait a move, then 10 secs after you're like... wt...? Then you look and see your turn to move...

Interesting. Last tested 8 months ago, posting on here anyway. I was 1475. Tested again today, and I'm 1530. Recently started OTB games, and I went from USCF 1080 in Feb, to yesterday being 1124. So it seems about the same pace.

I don't know how I did on any puzzle though.

I have noticed that most people get a rating around 200 points above their real rating ( a lot more than 200' in my case)

AneelZ

1790 ... I guess little practice in real games takes my Elo to 1800ish as I have very low rating now 1030. I am only a week into the game. Didn't expect that high :)

Has anyone else gotten a decent disparity between their chess.com rating and this estimator besides me ?

rooperi

I just did it, gave me 1800 on the dot. I;m 1524 here.

ajttja

Sebleb got a 1600 on the estimator so his rating is around 1300 ROFL no where near 1500

I was rated1670 by the software and I am currently 1526 here .... that means either it isn't very accurate, or there's some cheatin going on...
