Early resigns

In the past few nights I've played rapid games where my opponents have resigned for no apparent reason.  In one case with a whopping 3 moves.  A few with less than 20.  I certainly didn't see a definitive advantage in any of these circumstances.

It almost seems like bot play. Anyone else notice this behavior?

I tend to fair better in daily games, my rating is 1100.  I tend to play rapid at night with a few beers in me or a few glasses  of wine and my rating is 980.  I'm not tied to any openings per-say. But stick to fundamentals and mostly play natural moves. I can't see any reason to resign as early as some of my opponents have of late.

Cheers!

I do this sometimes if something comes up or I get a phone call. Maybe these guys were just interrupted.

In this case you can just ask for a draw and hope for the best. If the opponent is kind he often accept the draw.

Asking for a draw is slower. Urgent matters can't wait. I click resign and attend to urgent matters.
