Does someone know the fastest stalemate? I think it's in 12 ,or 15 moves , i am not sure , I have only heard of it.

Lord-Svenstikov
Well that is quite fantabolous. Thank you for that.

The funny thing is that these kids show this quick draw :) .. of course they could simply agree to draw... but it's better to show off with the quickest stalemate.
Puc_7

they obviously staged this match didnt they? They both would have went it to draw and were fancy about it.

Wow this is not as easy as it seems to me it is a true exploit, you have to get sure none of the 16 pieces can move in ten turns.

I'm not sure there's a faster way, can anyone find one?

Vance917

I have a stale in 3.  It's not nearly as interesting though...

Can't get shorter than this!

You could still move your knights...and Pawns, and blah blah blah..what in the world is that!!???

That's not a stalemate.  A stalemate is where none of the pieces can legally move (i.e. move without putting their King in check).
WolfLore
That's draw by repetition.  It's still a draw, just by a different name (and cause)

A draw is a draw ,and a stalemate is another thing ,although the result is the same : 1/2-1/2

That 10 move stalemate is actually composed by Sam Loyd, about 100-years before that game between those two Swedes was played...

Loyd composed also the fastest stalemate whit all the pieces on the board! Just 12 moves!

Lol... gotta respect Upmark for that... he could have easily betrayed the deal and won :P

nonowho

you can draw by agreement before you make a move, but who would do this?

A draw by repetition is not a stalemate.
