I think 1.b2-b4 is a best Chess Opening at www.chess.com!

b5 not worked well at my games here...

But the Queen at d6 blocked own Bishop on f8 for better places to stay active.

So, a3, protecting Pawn b4 at that case is OK, because it put a Black Queen at Question, about a future safe escape from d6...

Just follow my simple Advice above, Rael!

This is a Real wonderful Opening, where Black doesn't have a clue, what is going on here, and how fast they will crush own fine position! This is a Fun, because this is an Open Fight, out of books, where you can realise your  Attacking Skills, not a Memory...

Loss of balance

I don't think so.

You just have to be careful of 1.b4 d5 2.Bb2 Qd6!? when you have to play 3.a3 to protect the b-pawn. 3.b5 doesn't work because of 3...Qb4! skewering the b2 bishop and b5 pawn. Other than that you can expect an even game with no book lines to worry about. :)

thats what i play as black.

ive also seen 1.b4 c6 2.Bb2 Qb6!?

I never played b4 before? b3 looks better when you play it!

You played it against me too!

I really like this idea Awardchess - making an opening that's surprising, all about new attacks... and I believe you when you say it's effective. I'm just simply not a good enough chess player to carry it out, ahaha, at move 2 I'd be scratching my head.

The only problem is that when your opponent knows what they're dealing with, they're going to get at least a little advantage out of this opening. For example, the mainline Sokolsky:

3.e4??

After 2..f6 you have to play 3.b5.

MCO appears to disagree. There isn't a single mention of 3. b5, in the 14th Edition at least. I don't own the new version.

AWARDCHESS is correct.  3. b5 is the correct move after f6.  ECO/MCO are about 20 years behind theory in this line.

20 years behind theory? Perhaps they need to recruit someone specifically to add to these lines? They do seem a little 'tacked-on' at the end- more a footnote than an opening.
