Invent your own chess piece!

It is the mine sweeper.it is a king that eats kamikaze pieces without being harmed by them. It can be eaten.
I would never waste time deliberately but I have had a number of occasions where the interface has just locked up and there I was nothing I could do. Latest was when I queened a pawn with mate in 1.

Check out the game of shogi (Japanese chess), that game has some interesting pieces. They also have the concept of "paratroopers" where captured pieces can be re-used to land on any square so your king needs a team of generals (gold and silver) to protect it at all times. The generals move like the king but are more limited. Pawns capture forward instead of diagonally so it's a more fluid kind of game.

I really like the doctor that can attack the opponent's king on opposition. It must be from chinese chess.Oh archbishop has the move for a bishop and a rook while archknight moves in L-shaped and cross like the rook.

The Explosion Wizard, a piece that can kill any piece on either a rank or a file, including their own pieces, even the kings. It has this ability twice on any odd turn and each side has 3. It also can create 2 pawns at a time on any square on their own side 4 times (for white the 1st,2nd,3rd,and 4th ranks and for back the 5th to 8th ranks). After exhausting both abilities, the explosion wizard must turn into a pawn. This piece is worth 7 points. and like the Kamikaze, it would give new ways to win (explosion of the opponents king), draw (exploding both kings), and lose (suicidal explosion). It can be captured, capture, and block check but it can't give check.

I had a dream some time ago, that i play chess and have a piece called 'penguin'. Don't remember how it moves though )
A teleporter. It looks like the Star Trek Enterprise ("Beam me up, Scotty") and moves like a Queen, except that it can NOT attack. It CAN teleport any other friendly piece to an adjacent square. And it can't move and teleport--that would be too OP.
Exceptions: it can't teleport the king if the king is in check, or if the teleporter or any of the 4 adjacent teleporter squares is under attack. And it probably shouldn't be able to teleport ANY piece that is under attack.
The Book.
A bishop/rook combination that can move both diagonally, vertically, and horizontaly (like a queen) but must do so intermitedly, eg. One move on a diagonal, then it must move on either the horizontal or vertical. Players must keep track of which spaces a Book can utilize on any given turn.

My peice is called the healer it heals a peice once then it can't heal till 5 turns later
(you can not heal Queens & Kings)

Like many of suggestions. How bout the jesters, they replace a& h pawns. All pawn rules apply except they move one horizontal square as well.

The sinkhole. Each player has one and it starts off board. For your move, you may place it on any square not occupied by a king. Any unit on that square vanishes, and the square is blocked thereafter.

cheezes they are made of cheese and the goal is to eat them with the king, they can g=be only taken with the king, here is a game with them, (the pawns in the center are the cheeses)

The Butt, shaped like boat,on d1 and d8,wait for ememy the capture it and both will die.Moves like amazon.

The rage piece, you can only use it when all other pieces are captured besides your king. It moves like a knight and rook combined, but only after all of your other pices come off the board. If not all of your piece were captured, it can only move like a king. It can be captured. Before all the other pieces come off the board, it can move around but cannot capture, defend, give check, create threats (they will be empty threats at least), etc. but it can block check.
