i saw this bizarre thing in a book and it requires brain.

if you're struggleing with it, the answer is wirtten in white text, and you could use ctrl+a to find out.

the correct answer is bxc6 e.p.#

If the answer is en passant you should say the previous move, because en passant is illegal unless their previous move was with the pawn, which in this situation, I doubt they would do. I like the idea of putting the answer in white text, if its a multi move puzzle it lets you get one move but not the whole thing. My solution was to take the queen with the rook, then use that and the queen to force something similar to up-the-stairs mate.

The backgroundcolour is by the way not white, but #fafaf7.

en passant

en passant is allowed if retrograde analysis shows that c5 had to be played the move before this position. i'm not sure that this is the case here, but i'm also no good at retrograde analysis.

Nice, I enjoyed it. These 'en passant' moves to mate occur a couple of times in Lazlo Polgar's  "CHESS: 5334 Problems, Combinations, and Games" as well.

I would be so happy if I ever got to mate with enpessant let alone a pawn move.

The only problem with "crazy impossible" chess problems is the answer is always en pessant or castling.

Here's how I would do it without en pessant. Mayby there's a quicker way.

I've already realized there are flaws in the puzzle I just made: oh well.
