I was watching Russian Doll, and two characters were playing this incredibly bizarre chess match. Thought I'd share:
This is the only move shown on screen. After moving the Queen, the character says "checkmate", gets up, and leaves in a self-satisfied way, while the one playing Black, stunned, yells after the other one, protesting that it wasn't checkmate.
While the scene was kinda weird, I found the stalemate itself particularly inventive, even though extremely improbable.
