Gotta be Furler/James-era though
Have to disagree, I like the Michale Tait stuff better.

Dubstep is a great genre for a nice queit game of chess:)
Quiet?... should be raga minimal dubstep
Some people secretly pray over the board to get an unfair advantage. You should always play Black Metal to counter this.
Rachmaninoff (esp. 2 & 3), Beethoven, some Pink Floyd, sometimes a little deep house.
I love Rachmaninoff's second and third concertos.
Minimal techno and some ambient music.
Djazbin, I like 'Moon Song Psybient' and 'NEW Psychill Distant Dreams,' both fairly mellow for planning chess strategy.
Played a mini-tournament with three other people and the host played an old jazz album by Miles Davis. Lucky I tried not to hear it because the guitar was very annoying, not loud, just going down musical alleyways my ears could not adjust to.

Fantasy in F Minor by Chopin, played by Valentina Lisitsa, wonderful pianist born in Kiev, Ukraine. It's 13 minutes of mellow bliss. If I can't get my chess game going in that time, it won't be a good day.
