I like to scoot around on my butt all across the forums. Many more people would be doing the same thing if not for trysts holding us together.

Disregard about 90% of the advice you'll receive here in the forums. Smile

yes, yes,

the clear answer is play chess.

but I dont' think forum advice is as bad as you make it out to be.

most of it boils down to "don't play blunders".. with hints such as "learn about chess" and "study chess books"

alternately, if you are finding recent chess posts conflicting and confusing- why don't you tell us what that is.

ok

Play only with stronger players even if it means being defeated all the time. Those stronger players are free chess school. Pay no attention to your ELO and concentrate on chasing your prey

Do you mean "on" chess.com?

Of course you did.  Try and play people a bit better than yourself.  Use the tctics trainer, and chess mentor.  Post your losses with analysis and ask people to review them.
