My king frequently wonders if his pawns are loyal subjects. I am not suggesting that my pawns are part of some vast conspiracy, seeking regime change, but occasionally there may be a double agent working for the other side.

It's the old 2 against 1 ploy. What some pawns won't do for a crown plus a handful of coins.
