I hope that they don't make additional ranks. I thought that the original competition was fun back in 2022 when some people demonstrated an amazing ability to play 20+ hours of the day.
But then after it was over, and there were no more prizes to be had, millions of people continued playing in pursuit of joining the Legends Club.
I think I saw that at least 2.5 million people had made it into the Legends Club when they closed it down earlier this year. They all had to have played 3-4 hours of chess every day to accomplish that.
Now you are proposing setting up additional levels. Perhaps one would have to play 10 hours a day to qualify. As much as I love chess, that seems like too much. Most of us are not professional chess players. Most of us have to survive by interacting with other people who don't play chess 24/7.
Player leagues on chess.com encourage more competition and more chess. The idea of implementing more Player League Ranks is to motivate and challenge the legendary ranked players. I suggest making a few more leagues to keep the legendary ranked players more challenged and to bring back the fun in grinding chess. Some ideas for the ranks above legend could be: Mythic, Master, Pro, Diamond and more. As the levels get harder, the harder it becomes harder to advance to the next league. To keep this rule, we could make the top 1 out of 100 to pass or make them top 1 in their league 2x in a row. Let me know your thoughts.
