Winning and L8r nnot winning- A Recap

My opponent was sweating. I couldn't even feel bad for them. I remember yelling "check" every time i gave one as if they were sitting right next to me. (in a completely different time zone they were)... Yes the dramatic flair of it all was absouluty necessary. (My web cam was on, a national broadcast i thought)

And then, then it happened. I noticed them sent me a facepalm emoji. I glanced at the board and it hit me. I had checkmated myself. I sat there fo r a moment, wondering if i'd actually let this "bedbug" crawl up my spine. Gross. The satisfaction of shouting "CHHECK" turned into [redacted], a clear [redacted] that i was the one who needed to be checked out. My king was being assaulted- being penetrated on the a-file. (see chess diagram below) It was a disaster, a magnificent disaster. The best part? This was my legacy now. I leaned back in the office chair, letting the full weight of my blunder sink in. My opponent wasn't sweating I'd figured. Just chanting a mantra >> "takes takes, takes here takes here here here here takes? pawn b7777 and then it's just gg" Got extra mad when they declined a rematch —"No you won't prove a point⁓ I'm not giving you a chance to redeem yourself with a second game", they hinted. They wanted my winning position to haunt me for some 'extended' periods or, noticeable hours i would say.
