Depends if your story is fiction, fact, or based on true events. If not fiction, you should study chess history. If fiction, let your imagination go wild, you could even add super heroes or zombies if you want lol. Learning all about the basics in game of chess is important. Also, construct the story with beginning, middle, and end, with conflicts and a cool climax.
heyo. i want to write a chess book, a story-driven one like The Queen's Gambit really interested me and it might be fun to write one. I'm just worried I might get some things wrong, then again I don't expect it to be perfect. Any tips?
