This game is a draw, I warn you, at times the errors I and my opponent make may pain you to watch.

The game starts badly, gets better and then ends badly. Any comments would be really appreciated.

Perhaps a proof that alcohol and chess do not mix.

Anyway;

Thanks for reading, and please help!

How come your game ended in a draw? White wins with the following play.

Move 44 Bxf7+      Kf8 (only move available for black)

Move 49 Bxg6+      Black should resign after this.

It seems that the two most important things to extract from this game are to play an opening which gives you a say in the center(1...e5 is probably the best to this end, but the French and Caro-Kann are also good options) and winning won games. The way to win when you're up a lot of material and your opponent is leaning on you is to make play of your own(but don't miss your opponent's threats like you did in the game) so that you can slowly push your opponent into passivity and your material edge will assert itself.

Thanks for the comments.

Hyanis- As I was playing black I was more than happy to accept a draw.

I'm not entirely sure how I just missed some of those moves, but its a learning process. I shall look up the French and the Caro Kann, i know what these are, yet i've never played them.

At 41. I was really thinking about attacking, but I realise now that I should have tried to squash him rather than go straight on the attack.

Thankyou, all this advice really is helping!
