Or anyone? You don't want to give up material needlessly against any rating. Nxe5 without the inclusion of h3 first is losing, plain and simple. Also, higher rated players would never play the black side of this, it is a very unnatural way to develop. I think that's the key takeaway from this thread - if you don't develop properly, especially with the black pieces, you will get a bad position.
Instructive point for anyone playing the black side: it is important to develop the kingside. If either Nf6 or Bc5 are played at some point, this trap doesn't work and the game is equal. If you're low rated and starting out, focus on getting both knights out, then develop your kingside bishop to c5 or e7.
The legal mate is a beautiful sacrifice combination but it is a really well-known checkmate. It is okay to play it as if the pawn takes on e5 you take the bishop. If the bishop moves to e6 you can trade bishops and retreat the knight. But the knight can take you on e5 and then he defends the bishop and you are down a knight. So I wouldn´t recommend you use it in games against higher level players.
