A few plans -any opinions?

I'm posting this because I enjoyed the game & unusually I came up with quite a few plans.  I would value opinions on whether you think the plans were good or not & any thoughts on execution.

A summary of the plans:

  • Take advantage of whites opening mistake to pin the knight to his king.
  • Re-route the second knight to kill off blacks castling option.
  • Convert the positional advantage to material.
  • Flounder for a plan, attacking the centre with no success.
  • Provide pawn support to the passed pawn with the idea of freeing up the bishop.
  • Force a knight for bishop exchange which really opens-up blacks king.
  • In the end game just focus on protecting my pieces & locking down blacks position before finally starting to take material & running a passer.

When reviewing this game using Stockfish one thing I realize is that often Stockfish is telling me to make other moves that do not fit into my plan.  But I think its probably better to follow a plan (because it gives you something to focus every move on) even if the moves aren't the greatest as long as they improve your position & aren't losing.  Do you agree?

more of a blunder by black than a good move by me.  He forgot his queen already had a lot on her plate "alright love, I've got you an 8 hour shift down the super market, then you'll be down the pits for 8 hours, still leaving you with 8 hours for the house work love xxx" poor woman.

Yes, I certainly agree. Stockfish's capabilities are beyond what a human can do. A strong engine like Stockfish, Komodo, Houdini etc. are probably not searching for a plan but instead, are probably using brute force methods to figure out the best move.  Computers can search millions of positions each second, which is not within a human's capability. Do not be saddened if your move played does not align with Stockfish's recommended move. There should be an evaluation somewhere next to the board and compare your move to the recommended move. If the evaluation does not fluctuate by more than 0.30 of a pawn, then I would say that your move is perfectly fine. From a human's point of view, that difference will be next to nothing.

4. Bg5 loses a pawn to ...dxc4 and white does not have enough compensation.

9. cxd5 is probably correct.

13. Rfc1 is ok.

26. dxc5 is probably best
