Computers started beating the leading grandmasters in no-odds matches at least 30 years ago. Kasparov lost his match to Deep Blue in 1997.
/ A more interesting question would be to see if Magnus could beat Stockfish if it spotted him a knight.
It's actually very unlikely that Magnus beats stockfish in a normal game of chess, Stockfish is rated hundreds of elo points higher than any human. I'd say the best one can reasonably hope for without a handicap is a draw against the engine.

Yes.... Carlsen admitted to Joe Rogan that Stockfish or any other engine you can install on your phone can beat him... (In this case it's Stockfish 11) Stockfish 17 would crush him!
One of the biggest reasons why I hold no value on internet ratings is because of the easy access to such engines. It doesn't take nothing to pull up the position on your phone, play one move (that saves the position, or clarifies it.... same thing right?)
Once on an un-named chess site, a person in a forum complained about someone cheating...and posted up the game.. the moderators did nothing (because they decided their was no cheating) Myself... I played through the game using my phone (Stockshish 11 in analysis mode it only gives you 2 candidate's move ) In the game in question : 90% moves played that was one of the candidates choice my iPhone was giving. (remember.... me saying Carlsen admits the engines on your phone can beat him?????? ) 90%....??? seemed real fishy, yet the game didn't set off any A.I. So the moderators did nothing.
I'm not saying don't come here and play chess, I'm not saying cheating is rampant... What I am saying is people cheat... and get over it, it's only one game, a few elo points (which you should not being playing for anyway... !!!!!) You should come here to play, to get better, and make some internet acquaintances... thinking an internet elo is real ... it isn't.
