17. Qxh5+ might have given you a breakthrough on the kingside

Maybee he should have tryed 0-0-0 and give it all in against your allready weak king.
A good game for a 1200, so you'll climb fast.
I was looking at Qxh5+, and indeed the computer mentions it, but I couldn't tactically make it work... so I'll have to work on that. Thanks Nick
I kept expecting him to 0-0-0.... I thought his best resistance would be an all-out too as I had severly weakened my king, but he didn't go for it *shrug*. Thanks for the compliment too skogli
Arutha just had a very quick look but not playing 17 Qxh5+ seems your biggest blunder... why not take a free pawn? Also, after 17...Kf8/Kd8 18 h4 is pretty crushing (18... gxh4 or 18... Rg8 and his Bishop hangs... anything else you win the pawn on g5). Other small points:
3 d5 is fine... in fact I think it's the most played move in that position. 3... Qa5+ is just a horrible tempo-losing move.
8 Bd3 makes little sense to me... what is it doing there? Be2 looks way more natural.
And why not 24 Nxf6 - another free pawn! By playing Qf3 you remove the option of taking because even though you always have an extra piece attacking than he has defending, you now can't take because your Queen is spearheading the assault on f6. No reason not to take free material when it's offered.
But the fact that you're thinking positionally probably means you'll improve quickly, if you sharpen up tactically... anyhow, that's my two cents. Nice checkmate as well.
Any constructive comments would be appreciated
Thanks
