It happened to Captain Kirk. The computer even had video of him hitting red alert and launching the shuttle craft with his friend on board. Jim swore this was not the case. Spock actually had to play chess with the computer to find out that it had been tampered with. Therefore, only a court-martial proceeding could possibly fix this error.
A move I didn't make...
If you get Leonard Nimoy to play on here then the problem with be fixed.
It is sad that the first three people to see this all know the details of that particular episode.
In fact. Spock beat the computer three times.
"I designed the chess computer myself, so of course it will play perfect. The best I should do is obtain a draw. But watch...checkmate."

What was Spock's stance on resigning vs. checkmate?

You have got too much spare time

No, but Sheldon Cooper told me everything.
I'm with Starman. It just happened to me as well. A move I never made just ruined my plan of checkmate in two. That sucks ![]()
Seriously, this happens to me quite a lot, and it's not a problem with chess.com. If you're the same as me, what's happening is that you're moving the mouse cursor around on your screen, perhaps with a touch-pad device, and it's "clicked" on a piece and selected it. Then, if you accidentally "click" (i.e. briefly touch) another square, if that is a valid destination square for the piece you (accidentally!) selected, it will move it! This can be really annoying when you're thinking "if I put my rook there, it will get taken by that..." CLICK! oops my rook is there, "... bishop" ZAP and my rook is gone, and there's a smug-looking bishop standing there instead.
But look on the bright side. A couple of days ago, I did this, and accidentally realised that the move I'd made was pure genius, one of the best I'd ever made (I hadn't envisaged the consequences at all). The "Review" function loved it. And it didn't even rate it "Brilliant accident!"
Thanks that might be true, but in my case my opponent was yet to move?
Just so weird. Anyway life goes on.
So the bottom line of this thread is: get a high quality computer mouse ?
With all these mouse slips even by Super - GM and former WMs like his majesty himself recently against a ten year old a good computer mouse seems to be a good investment anyway.
Or a touchscreen. I would assume its much harder to "mouseslip" if you actually "grab" the piece with your finger, instead of having to move your finger over the screen firsst.

Hello all.
This morning a starting playing some chess games and I lost to a lower rated person. I checked the Game Ananlysis and it said I made a move I didnt make! Could this be something wrong with my pc? Or is it just me?
