Amateur playing the English

Hello everyone. This is a game I played today as the white pieces on the site. I ran the English opening as a change, and I plan on sticking with it for awhile to become more familiar with it.

I like to post my games for analysis because it really helps me learn (seeing if I missed any key opportunities, where I went wrong, etc.), and I know that looking at game analysis for others has always helped me, so I'm sure it helps others.

Thanks for looking at this. Please inform me of any better variations you see or of any mistakes I made.

6. Nd5 , there is no need for this move develop your white bishop , castle open center and win the game

7. Bf3 , clear your way for castle

8. Again waste of time and a good piece that was 3rd move of that knight, and you have not finished development also black bishop is bad cos he is blocked with his own peons

10. wasting time go for castle

12. black has finished development and he is attacking

Lucky win , you should learn a lot form black , he has finished development and exploited that u didn't ( king in center ) and started attacking denying you from castling if he played Nf4 on move 20 you would not have lot of chance

I play the english opening in 99% of my games as white, I find the best way to play it is to fianchetto the light bishop as early as possible. I try to avoid e3 or d4 until I know what I'm doing with my dark squared bishop. As h6 was played in this game early on, then b2 would have been an excellent square at some point

7. Bd3 is vastly superior to the played Qc2.  Remember development, development, development....Bd3 takes care of castling preparation, and protects that weakened e4 square.  Qc2 does none of this because Qc2 loses to Nb4.

8. Nxe7 ....this is pretty bad.  At best black's dark squared bishop is going to be a minor annoyance.  But, the knight on d5 is arguably the strongest piece on the board place to reek havoc on black for quite some time to come.  It's immediate importance is that it's freezing the queen to her current spot.

Any win is a good one but black helped  you along here quite a bit.  You can learn a lot from this game by analyze it in greater depth.  As a side note...I always go over my games by myself before I run any other aided analysis...it helps.
