I find if you are doing too much of either, you will probably lose. The best openings form a solid defense and allow attacking chances.

I completely agree with rookandladder. If you're going to play something very defensive ,like the Hippo', then you need to know when to strike back - wait too long and it's over.
i understand that but an opnening can just give you chance to attack but its all up to you whether you attack or defend or wait till the opposition has weakened his defence due to his attacking game.

i always feel that defence is a better option than attack . its because generallywhen people think of attacking they often dont take much care of their defence structure which ultimately gives opposition a better end game possesion.
