I don't think you should have moved your rooks off the 7th rank and relieve him of that pressure, but maybe instead make threats while keeping your rooks on the 7th.
beginner needs help for improvement
Why not attacking the B7 pawn that is protecting the Knight.
Much better and simple.
Don't exchange your good knight for his bad knight and leave yourself with a hanging pawn.
u have played solid game for ur elo, for me the biggest problem was queen exchange cos u got much more pasive after that also u left ur defence 1. and 2. rank so u can attack with ur rooks
angrychess,
This was a good game....unfortunately, we can't win them all. At the end, I think you underestimated the power of the black rooks to invade your king's territory. But before that, there are a couple of moves which I didn't like:
1. Move 20, Ne5 - I know this was a missclick...but you actually allowed black to improve its position significantly by:
- exchanging your very well placed knight, with blacks passive knight.
- And most importantly, exchanging the d4 pawn with blacks c7 pawn (as the dust settled by move 22.RxC7) gives black a pawn majority on the queen side. This is important since you are approximating the ending and this majority will result in your rooks being tied on the queen side of the board.
2. Move 23. Qb3 - Based on the pawn majority you granted black on the queenside due to move 20.Ne5, exchanging queens was premature and only benefits black. At this point the game was still rather unclear, but I would have given black the edge if the queens came out of the board.
3. Move 24.Qxd5 - Black made a mistake (?) by not exchanging queens on move 23, but then you corrected the mistake for them by capturing on this move. I'm not sure what Fritz might give the position....but if I was choosing a side to play after 24.Qxd5....I would pick black.
Just my view on the game....but still, great game.
Just a couple of quick observations: Why did you say "damn" when Black played 12...Nxc3. It seems to me you're doing fine. 13.Rxc3 was also OK, but I like your 13.bxc3, reinforcing your pawn center. It seems to me you're on the road to central domination. 17.Rfc1 was certainly OK, but I think 17.Rfb1 was even better. By putting pressure on the b-pawn, you are undermining the N on c6.
Unfortunately, 20.Ne5 takes mostt of the pressure off Black's game. 20.Qb1 or 20.Rc5 keeps the pressure on Black and ensures your advantage. You've played quite well up 'till now, or so it seems to me. This is the kind of position that can be very frustrating for a less experienced player. You have a definite advantage, but now what? Well, if I could tell you, I'd be a master, but I think you have to just keep improving your position. In general, you don't want to allow exchanges unless you're getting something good out of it.
In the double rook ending, you could have done a bit better. How about 28.g4 (to get his rook of the 5th rank) followed by 29.Rab7? But to tell the truth, you don't have much. 29.g4 was also quite a bit better for you than the game move.
You played quite well to get a real advantage, but then you let it slip. Well, that's life at our level. But I think you lost focus at the end: while you were working so hard to do something with your rooks, you were not alert to this possibilities, and that's what sunk you. This game was good experience. Keep fighting!
Thank you all for the advices.
Yeah it's true sometimes I lose my concentration and make bad moves
Hello everyone! I am a beginner and I need some help to improve. I annoted one of my recent lost game. I shared you what was I thinking during the game. I think I did ok until the final mistake. I would be grateful If you could tell me where I went wrong. 1 notice: My opponent seems to knew everything I wanted to do. Do I play too simple? :S i am white
Thank you in advance
