Hikaru faced a brilliant move: https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/live/32987366669

Because if white takes the bishop, queen takes g2 pawn and checkmate.

I won a game on time and the new analysis said i have a brilliant move . . .

I was black and made a brilliant move with an obvious tactic but went on to be checkmated after a blunder. The brilliant move is not that hard to see

Wow .. WHAT a game .. well done.  Rook deflection sacrifice reminds me a little bit of Larsen v Spassky from 1970

Only a 632 at the time but my first brilliant move! If I'm honest, thought it was a blunder as I gave my knight up for a pawn, but turns out the queen was free.

Thanks ! It's a very classical sequence to attack the kingside of course but it never get old to see it happen in game

I think the new definition is a move that is the best move, and requires some form of sacrifice. It used to be much more obscure, but I think brilliant moves are much more logical now.

YES! I got a brilliant move, and this time I actually intentionally played this, like a calculated the whole variation and played it. This is very satisfying, the last one I got was pretty much luck, but this was intentional.

Hopefully it still shows brilliant when I check again, sometimes it changes the evaluation of a move after further checking.
