Brilliant Moves in New Game Analysis Report

Jesus we got a full on debate going on here

You may not check a game that was played a year ago, but interestingly the move that was shown as brilliant  was actually the best move when I checked in analysis. Maybe chess.com saves every brilliant move made in games and add them to the engine log as "best move" or something?

In this game, I played a brilliant move, although I'm not sure why is it not just another best move. Can anyone explain?

@SIMPlyTheLegend27: The point of 22. b3 actually seems to be that it cuts off the attack from the black queen and allows the white king to escape to d1 and possibly c2. Say white plays 22. Qd5, then black's threat is 22... Bxf2+ 23. Kf1 (23. Ke2 Bg4+ 24. Kf1 Qd1+ 25. Kxg2 Qf3+ 26. Kf1 Bh3#) 23... Bh3.  It's also a difficult move to find as it allows the capture & check on f2 and opens the threat of the bishop on the rook at a1 for the future, although black has to deal with the threat on his queen first. I would actually agree with the computer that this 22. b3 is a brilliant move.

I always put emphasis on Human evaluation because engines can tell a move Brilliant and the same move as Mistake/Blunder on different depths.

The engine that powers Chess.com analysis is called Stockfish. This engine relies on evaluating the "goodness of the board" at a given moment by looking at such things as pawn placement, passed pawns, king safety, queen safety etc. and assigning a score. It iterates through possible moves as a tree to a specific depth. After doing so, it evaluates the best score progression and picks that move as the "best" move. A brilliant move then, is better than a best move, and as such would achieve a higher score progression. This must indicate that the score progression DOES NOT exceed the best move score until a depth of analysis that exceeds the chosen depth for Stockfish. Therefore a brilliant move is simply a move that the engine would consider a best move if the engine was parsing to a sufficient depth. 

I think Brilliant moves are the best moves, but any other move (more than 5 pieces involved) are blunders. If you found that move then that truly is Brilliant.

The move is just something the computer missed and is better than the best move here I just potentially started a pattern that could lead to a checkmate 

With best play you can still lose the computer is just letting you know it was a great move the 2800 computer blundered later so this brilliant move let me sac the rook and then mate the king

Your game history shows all wins no loses, many in under 10 moves, many to the same "opponents".  You need to be banned along with your other dummy accounts.

nope brilliant move means that even the computer sees that u have found a better move than them. I asked a chess.com staff

Interesting game. White needs to be very cautious in this Nc6 gambit line otherwise these things happen!

I got a brilliant move today, however, i don't think it was.  I got a really lucky draw today due to perpetual check have my opponent moved their king when they didn't need to.  However, the first move of the perpetual has been classed as brilliant - really?  I think it was the only move I could have played to not lose.  Surely the computer would have seen it?

basically brilliant moves are mostly calm retrieving moves . that's what i have analysed so far
