Can someone explain this puzzle to me?

I don't understand the knight move from this puzzle. Please let me know if this isn't the correct place to post this as I'm very new.

I've been playing a lot of puzzles and really suck at openings... I ran acorss another puzzle that I simply can't understand:

The analysis engine even frowns on the puzzle move that was considered correct.... I'm lookin again for a more thoughtful approach to the method suggest in the puzzle compared to the engine at chess.com.
