Can We Talk About The Bots Spouting Nonsense?

One time i played a match (rapid) i made a good sacrifice (of a pawn) and won a free bishop.

I ended up winning (because i am just the goat). I did an analysis, But when i got to the move where i sacrificed my pawn, the bot said it was a mistake, even though it was a tactic that won me a bishop. Chess.com please fix your bots.

MrMinecraftBlupBLup

No offence by the way, Chess.com is still a good website for chess.

You should post the actual position in question from the game, so we can comment on it. Chess.com's bots are designed to make big mistakes, whereas the analysis engine explores the best moves in each position. You may have ended up winning the bot's bishop, but that does not necessarily mean your pawn sacrifice was a good move.

I had to leave the a2 pwn hanging to win the bishop.

(YES, i am white)

CrankyMrFizz

What move did the analysis say was a mistake? The only move I see immediately preceding a bishop capture with a hanging a2 pawn is 34. Rce1 … That move allows Black to win an exchange (knight for a rook) with 34… Ne2+ 35. Rxe2 (only legal move available) Rxe2. I can see why the analysis engine would label 34. Rce1 … as a mistake.

While you have a winning position either way, 34. f4 … is a stronger move.

MrMinecraftBlupBLup

Wont f4 isolate my f3 pawn?

MrMinecraftBlupBLup

The bot said that capturing the bishop wth the rook was a mistake in move 35

MrMinecraftBlupBLup

It said the better move was to move my a2 pawn to a4

MrMinecraftBlupBLup

I dont know how to share analysis.

look at the depth and what will happen after analysis is better then you are its better then every chess player in the world

CrankyMrFizz

I just ran the Chess.com analysis for your game, and 35. Rxe5 .... gets a “great” label. I am not sure why it showed up as a mistake for you. There is nothing wrong with that move.

MrMinecraftBlupBLup

???

It showed that it was a mistake for me!

People say that 'Stockfish' (AKA, chess.com's chess engine) is the best player-machine in the world. But, no.... Some GMs have beat Stockfish.

I am sure that the label ? means mistake, and the bot also said that i should've played a4.

CrankyMrFizz

Weird. The 35. a4 ... recommendation makes no sense.
