Carlsen Gets Away with Horrible Move

In round 5 of the 78th Tata Steel tournament in the Netherlands during January of 2016 Carlsen played and won with the Grunfeld defense. However he did not win because of the opening. In fact he won the game with a very bad move that his opponent failed to properly refute. The moves of the game were as follows:
1. d4 Nf6; 14. Qb3 Qf5; 27. e4 Rxg2??
2. c4 g6; 15. h5 e6; 28. Qh6+ Kf6;
3. Nc3 d5; 16. hg6 hg6; 29. Rc3? Rd8!;
4. Bf4 Bg7; 17. Qd1 Nd7; 30. Qh3 Qg5;
5. e3 O-O 18. Bd3 Qa5; 31. Rf1+ Kg7;
6. Rc1 Be6; 19. Kf1 Nf6; 32. Qf3 Rd7;
7. cd5 Nxd5; 20. Be5 Rac8; 33. Rf2 Rg4;
8. Nxd5 Bxd5; 21. Qd2 Ng4; 34. Nf4? Qh4;
9. Bxc7 Qd7; 22. Bxg7 Kxg7; 35. Be2? Rg1+
10. Bg3 Bxa2; 23. f3 Qg5; 36. Bf1 Kg8;
11. Ne2 Bd5; 24. fg4 Rxd4; 37. Ne2 Rxf1+;
12. Nc3 Bc6; 25. Ke1 Qe5; 38. Kxf1 Rd1+
13. h4 Rd8; 26. Ne2 Rxg4; 39. Kg2 Be4

White has the advantage in this position. Black's compensation for the loss of his Knight for 2 Pawns is insufficient for equality. Carlsen played 27. ____ Rxg2?? which leads to a very decisive attack for White. But White misplayed the attack. After 28. Qh6+ Kf6 White should have played 29. Qh4+ which leads to the following possibilities:
29. _____ Kg7; 29. ____ Qg5; 29.___Rg5 29. ____g5;
30. Qh7+ Kf6; 30. e5+ Kg7; 30.Rg1! 30. Qh3!
31. Rf1+ Kg5; 31. Qh7+ Kf8;
32. Qh3 etc. 32. Qh8+
The purpose of 29. ____ Rd8! is shown in the second line above . 34. Nf4? and 35. Be2?
were both dubious moves which led to a winning advantage for Black.
