Titled players like Magnus Carlsen are so advanced with their chess understanding that they can play even really bad openings and still make the best of them. This opening is objectively terrible and if a titled player like Carlsen plays this in speed chess, then they certainly know this already and are simply trying to get their opponent to lose on time by thinking too much, or other psychology reasons for playing a dubious opening.
For most people, it will be better to follow chess opening principles: https://www.chess.com/blog/KeSetoKaiba/opening-principles-again

I attempted to do one of those Magnus weird openings, in the hope it would cause a big blunder from the opponent getting too confident. it just didn't work. Is there any tips on how to pull it off?
