I am finally trying to switch back to 1. e4 after many long days in a 1. f4 tank...this was my try against a Scandinavian...any ideas to improve? I won, but I am open to better development ideas.

I see nothing wrong w/ your opening, but it looks like both sides are doing a lot of posturing.  You're WAY ahead development-wise after move 11., don't let him catch you!

One thought...  After move 8. it's clear that he's going to castle kingside.  Why don't you castle queenside & use your pawns to attack his king (to take advantage of your huge tempo bonus).

Those are my beginner-skill thoughts.  Hope it helps!

it was good i noticed before you could of took his rook with your bishop also i noticed that you could take his queen with your bishop. i like how you powered your rook down the file lane.

Gambitking, I know I will still be playing some 1. f4 games.  It is nice to apply some of the ideas I have learned from 1. f4 to 1. e4, where I gain the extra tempo of e2-e4 in one go.  I have been using this approach pretty successfully.  The good side to 1. f4 in comparison with 1. e4 is that you get a closed position with attacking chances on the kingside (unless they want to sac a pawn with the From's, which is cool with me!), and I have gotten many quick wins with 1. f4 also!  But the development schemes aren't as active.  I am learning some things with 1. e4 that wouldn't be as likely to see playing 1. f4!  :-)

As far as ...Qa5 goes, most of the time Black simply plays ...c6 and plans to retreat the queen, but of course, being active on a5, the queen has other possibilites!  Most likely, if White knows what he is doing, the queen will retreat to her square on c7.  What did Black accomplish?  He got ...d5 out of the way in one move, activated his queen, opened lines for his queen bishop...in all actuality, the Scandinavian gives Black lots of ideas from move 1.  I wouldn't be quick to dismiss it - I think the Icelandic Gambit kind of rocks!  :-)
