Complex game analysis

I played this complex game about a couple months ago.  I had difficulty analyizing because the position became extremely tactical.  Can anyone in the community give their thoughts on this game?

It's definately complicated Cool.

Hard to assess without a program.  Still, I liked white's early opening play, grabbing a nice chunk of territory, though I think he did make a few too many pawn moves in the opening.  That being said, the first move that really jumped out at me in a negative way was 8 D5, which I think was a mistake.  I liked your 11th move ...F5 a lot, as it helped to really free up a previously constricted position.  After that, I think both sides had chances until the very end.  Still, I think the real dangers came out in the ending and you were able to handle that pressure better.  Congrats.

Yeah, near the end, my opponent and I were down to less than a minute before we hit the 40 move time control and started SD 30 minutes.  At the end, we were both down to 3 minutes each.

Major time pressure Smile

First thing I couldnt understand was 9...Ne8. Mind telling me why? 9...c5 or Bg4 wouldve been much better.

Next on 11...f5 I understand you were very cramped, and you needed some space. This seems like a fine idea. Although that did seriously weaken your King in the end. Consider for 11...Bg4, 12. h3, Bxf3 13. Qxf3, Bg5 where you can bring more pieces to the King side. The pawn structurue on the queen sides seems pretty drawish so from right here the game seems drawish.

You both played pretty well...only white made a big mistake by playing 36. Qf4 instead of Qf5. If 36. Qf5,Qxe3+ 37. Ng3, Nf8 38. Qxe4, Qxe4 39. Nxe4 and white is now up a pawn in the end game :O

At 39...Kh7 that was a big mistake, sorry to say :P because if 40. h5, Ne5 41. g6+ 42. Nxd6 (because of mate with the queen the pawn cant take) Qxd5 43. Qf8+ and white has a big lead from there.

Anyway luckily he didnt see that so he went 41. Ne7

And from there on you played very well, close to flawless I think. I think white didnt, and you capitalized on that well. Good job. Good game.

I agree with (almost!) everything Flibz says above - I would just add one point. On move 46...Kh6 gives up a lot of your advantage as it allows the queen into your position. Better would have been to block the diagonal with Ne5, leaving white with little counterplay. White then misses your elegant checkmate, and could have drawn out the game with 48 Kf2 then as before Qg4 49. Qc3 Qg1+ 50. Ke2 and now the queen is preventing the mating move Qd1. The king escapes for the moment, but you still have a good advantage. Well played.

Thank you for your analysis.  If anyone else finds any more improvements, please post.  It would be greatly appreciated.
