Is there any way for white to prevent the liquidation of pieces and a King/pawn endgame? Would this have been a good idea for black to have considered?

Annotation - 1. d4 Nf6  2. g3 c5 3. dxc5 Na6 4. Nc3 Nxc5 5. Nd5 Qa5+ (I saw a fun thing, felt a bit silly, and decided to get out of the opening) 6. Bd2 Nd3+ 7. cxd3 Qxd5 (Queen in center waiting to be attacked) 8. f3 e5 (for safety) 9. f4 (my opponent wants me to take the rook, to block in my queen after Nf3 and I can't see if it's an advantage for black or white, pondered r+b+disharmony for the queen) Bc5 (then I spotted a mate threat) 10. Nf3 Ng4 (I can't quite decide how to continue I want to control counterplay) 11. Bg2 (looks like a discovery on the queen, but I can't see how white would pull it off) Ne3 12. Bxe3 Bxe3 (the simplest with positional plus) 13. h4 exf4 14. g4 d6 15. Bh3 Bd7 (I want to castle queenside and expose my king to attack) 16. Rc1 h5 (I spot a mate threat) 17. g5 Bxh3 18. Rxh3 Qf5 19. Rh2 O-O (decided to ease back and just exchange pieces to win the endgame) 20. b4 (it blocks a check, and I thought about that check a couple moves ago, but just kept it simple, thinking that I had enough for the win) Bxc1 21. Qxc1 Rac8 22. Qd2 Qd5 23. Qxf4 Qxa2 24. Kf2 Rc2 25. Kg3 (I would have wanted to force an exchange of pieces after taking the pawn (25...Rxe2 26.Rxe2 Qxe2 27.Qxd6 Rd8 28.(any) Re3 29.Qf4 Rxf3 30.Qxf3 Qxf3 31.Kxf3) but I lost contact, and the game 1-0).
