Could I have salvaged this game?

Here's a scene from a game I played tonight. As you can see, I was in serious trouble. Would there have been a way out of this mess or was I doomed? Maybe Ba6 in there somewhere?

Fianjello

sorry to say this but ithink you are pretty much doomed

White could hold temporarily by say... Qe5. However, at this point you are down in material drastically. The night is just barely holding on while protecting a2, but as soon as black activates those rooks you'll be in deep trouble.

The best that could happen here is to play "hope chess"... just HOPING that your opponent makes a mistake. However, in the reality of things, you're down two full rooks. I hate playing hope chess though. I always assume that my opponent will make the best move possible.

No... you're down two rooks without compensation... game over.

HotFlow, I agree. Looking over his game two key positions stand out:

In position #1, FishyFred played Ba5??.

In position #2, FishyFred played g3??.

Before making a move, look whether your opponent has any good CHECKS or CAPTURES in reply--that helps one avoid blundering away pieces.

After blundering away 2+ pieces, the game is almost always lost.
