Could I win?

Here is a game I recently drew while being material down due to a passed pawn. I'm wondering if there are winning tactics I missed:

Only time to note one small detail. After her 44...Kh7 in the game, you might have played Bxh5, which cannot be captured or Rxh5 mate. Then the Bg4 retreat is a sturdy outpost to protect the pawn. Or perhaps your Rd6 might still follow if BL played Rg7 again, but Rf6 instead looked better to me.

It seems BL missed chances to win the d-pawn, or sac the exchange to get it and a won ending. Such as on move 44...Rxf3, then pick up the pawn and simplify so that the q-side pawns give a won Q&P ending.

Nice job to hang onto that difficult game. But like she said, I was wondering why you didnt take that Rook too!? Maybe you were trying to hold it together for so long you just didnt expect she might find a way to lose it?!

Sorry I didnt get to look further. Must go deal with my CRT headache from these WT pages~! Probably time I look into the different color schemes here.

45 Bxh5 looks interesting...

BaronDerKilt:

Note that in the final comment I wrote "winning" because Qxd8 is in fact a draw by perpetual. Like I explained to my opponent:

52. Qxd8? Qe3+! 53. Kh1 (53. Kf1?? Qxf4+) Qc1+ 54.Kh2 Qxf4+ draw.

The "Aaaargh!!" was there because I realized she had missed the line that I saw, so if I had played it I would of won. But sadly there was no way I could of known that.

The only way that I could have won the final position was to play Re8 with my queen being on c7 and no black pieces on the seventh rank AND the black queen not being on d8-h4 diagonal. I see no line where I could have accomplished that without my opponent blundering. Basically, I was a rook short.

Also, if my queen had ever left h2-b8 diagonal there was a big chance of perpetual or even mate.

I missed that after 45.Bxh5 gxh5 I had mate, thank you for that. The bishop would of come in handy on g4, Rc8 would of been much easier to pull off.

I think 30. Nd5  "eventually I got serious and started playing some real chess" is a mistake, Why not 30. Bxf6, Bxf6 followed up with 31. Bg4 and get ur material back?
