Crab. Great opening trap

Hello.

I really enjoy playing chess. My rating is quite low because I hate playing "normal" or "theorethical" games an when I play black I usually play St. George Defence.

But I'm now experimenting with this Carb-style personal variation and I accidentally met this trap which lead to an easy Cheqmate

Yeah, I know that is not exactly the more ortodoxal way to play chess but what I like the most of chess is experimenting new openings althought lossing against more theoretical openings.

Waht do you thing about this? Do you thing it could be useful in some cases?

Thanks!

its avoidable with correct play =P

nice bishop sac though

Your opening is horrific (which is the only reason why its unusual).  You should be learning basic chess principles, such as "develop pieces" and "control the center", and not ignoring them in favor of "unusual (horrific)" openings.

I'm not a good player, but lately I've been concentrating on attacking the queen via pins, skewers and discoveries, and it looks like 11. Bb5 puts you in a very defensive position.

Just because you don't like the 'normal' or book openings, doesn't mean that you should ignore opening principles. Try playing like 7/10 pawn moves against a high rated player....it definitely won't work so well. Other than that nice finish...

Playing weird openings is fun, but you will be crushed by good players. Of that I have no doubt. Good combination though.

BAD OPENING

treday

this is a nice opening you can catch a player off gard with this good or not

This belongs in the fun with chess forum

I thinks this opening is pretty good

If you can read this join The Checkmate Club

It would be better with some hurry.

16 .. Bxe3 right away.

Wins.

I don't think it's a very good opening, but it looks like a really gay 'mickey mouse' opening:

I don't think that the 'mickey mouse' opening is very effective, as it is quite hard to break through (for both sides)...

Streptomicin

nice play, thats for shure, you did well against 1200 r player. But generaly,  your opening sucks. If i remember correctly, Phillidor sad that pawns are the soul of chess, and he did crush his opponents, but that was Phillidor.

Listen to more exp players, and dont ignore basic chess prinipes. I for an example would never let you take that B and double my pawns, and i would cruhs your midle and let thaw crab opening of yours with hanging pawns on both side without any defence.

I think this opening of the Black helped because White did not proceed with adequate safeguard and plan of aggression from the beginning being confused with Blacks moves.  Once White paid attention to this sort of opening the game would have proceeded differently.

If you like playing this opening, you should defenently keep doing so.

I have to agree with the majority on the site here, though. It does not look good for black. Basic principles of openings should immediatly sound the alarms after 1. ... a5, and then again after the 7 pawn moves.

- Control the center (either with pawns or with pieces pointing into the center).

- Develop your pieces (Don't let the officers stand on their initial position, and don't move them more than once).

the move 7....f6?, i think this is a blunder, game would cont as 8. Be2 Nc6 9. h3 Nh6 (the only square) 10. Nh4 and your pawn on h5 is going away with good attacking position for white. opening with h5 is dangerous although you have rook it's not wise idea to trade it with other minor pieces (particularly in the opening). your opening is not wrong but make sure you can get away with at high level.Laughing

BlackArt

This would be useful in blitz type games where the opponent likes to grab the center with K pawn openings

Creating a dark-squared net early in the game is a bad idea.  For one, your position is full of light-squared weaknesses!  Second, you lacked a center and lagged in development.

I would place emphasis on opening principles.  Here's a couple:

1) Try not to make more than two pawn moves in the opening.

2) Don't move a piece more than twice in the opening, unless necessary.

3) Don't open with wing pawns, especially rook pawns!

4) Knights before bishops, bishops before rooks, queens after rooks.

5) Castle early.  Well, at least if you're a beginner.

*The bishop sac was nice on your part*

There are plenty of unusual openings which present the other side no real problems but on the other hand are also not really bad for you. (All assuming proper play). For example 1.b4. This, however is not one of those openings. 1...a6 is much stronger than 1...a5 (not obvious to someone with really little experience), Miles once famously used it to defeat Karpov. Maybe try that if you want something unusual.
